Village scene in kb

A story is sometimes more effectively told in pictures. Not that I’m the greatest photographer in the world, but here are my candid shots of our visit to a floating fishing village in the Bai Tu Long Bay area of Ha Long Bay:

Eventually we round a bend and VOILA! There it is.. the floating village! Home to approximately 160 individuals.

The school house. Notice the partition. The teacher/s use the other side for their living quarters.

Our hosts shared a drink made by steeping a root (I can’t recall the name) in water; perhaps it was some kind of local “tea”. It was supposedly very potent with medicinal purposes. I wish I’d taken note of the details.
