1. Bitexco Financial Tower

Not to be missed! Great views of the city and surrounding area from the 50th floor. Enjoy a fabulous buffet lunch for 323,000 VMD (AUD15), and/or go for dinner and see the night lights. (I wrote in more detail about this in another post.)

Elle Cafe Smoothie2. Elle Café

A cafe with a large outdoor area under cover of canvas awnings right next to the Bitexco Financial Tower. Great free wifi with good speeds (not common in the hotels). Nice western coffee, smoothies and cocktails. Happy hour between 2 pm and 4 pm – (20% off food). The best bruschetta I’d ever tasted. A nice place to relax and catch up with your internet tasks while having a cool drink.

3. Wainosuki Japanese/Italian Restaurant

37 Ho Tung Mau Street, opposite the Bitexco Financial Tower
Nice restaurant, with interesting menu. Some items I sampled are:

Wrap bread of seafood soup 118,000 VMD (AUD5.50)

Green Tea Tiramisu

Green Tea Tiramisu 70,000 VMD (AUD 3.25)

Or if you prefer you can try to salt-cured fish guts. I didn’t.

4. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Café

notre dameIf you’re up around the Notre Dame Cathedral area of the city, this cafe is pleasant to have a good non-Vietnamese coffee at, use their wifi and watch the activity around the area. It’s opposite the Notre Dame Cathedral and the old French Colonial Post Office, in Dong Khoi Street. The cafe belongs to a chain, which I usually avoid, preferring more local and authentic places to hang out, but the position of this one is nice and you’re bound to get chatting with other travelers if you have a mind to do so.

5. Coffee May

coffee may 4They’re also in the Notre Dame Cathedral area, opposite the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Cafe. Here you can enjoy an inexpensive Vietnamese menu whilst sitting on their verandah watching the world go by.
